{"id":12528,"date":"2020-07-08T12:22:44","date_gmt":"2020-07-08T16:22:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.f3winstonsalem.com\/f3\/?p=12528"},"modified":"2020-07-08T12:22:44","modified_gmt":"2020-07-08T16:22:44","slug":"devil-went-down-to-mayhem","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.f3winstonsalem.com\/f3\/2020\/07\/devil-went-down-to-mayhem\/","title":{"rendered":"Devil Went Down to Mayhem"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With the passing of Charlie Daniels this past week, a prominent musical influence of my youth, YHC knew that a CDB themed beatdown was appropriate.<\/p>\n<p>Pax had already gathered at 0527 ready for fun as YHC pulled into the parking lot.<\/p>\n<p>Tunes were fired up, and 3 jabroni&#8217;s who needed some EC running to compensate for what they believed to be a less than sufficient beatdown joined the circle right as we started.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Warmorama with CD fun facts<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Helped the pax warmup the muscle between their ears with some &#8220;Did you know?&#8221; facts about CD.<\/li>\n<li>He was born in Wilmington, NC<\/li>\n<li>After high school in Chatham County,\u00a0 migrated to Nashvegas<\/li>\n<li>SSH<\/li>\n<li>In 1964 co-wrote &#8220;It Hurts Me&#8221;, which Elvis Pressly recorded<\/li>\n<li>Copperhead Squats<\/li>\n<li>CD was a session musician for Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen<\/li>\n<li>Whirly has the clap<\/li>\n<li>IW<\/li>\n<li>Peter Parkers (horizontal IW&#8217;s but whatevs)<\/li>\n<li>CD played fiddle with Marshall Tucker Band on many of their early albums<\/li>\n<li>Pony approved Seal claps<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The Thang &#8211; Devil went down to Georgia<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Since the devil was in a bind and way behind (how does someone who is beyond time get way behind? #deepthoughts) he was willing to make a DEAL!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Deck of Death<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Spades: Merkins<\/li>\n<li>Clubs: Jump Squats<\/li>\n<li>Hearts: American Hammer<\/li>\n<li>Diamonds: Dips<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Flip a card over, and perform that many of corresponding exercise.<\/p>\n<p>Pax also learned some &#8220;original lyrics&#8221; to this song.\u00a0 Originally the devil jumped up on a hickory stump and said &#8220;Boy, let me tell you what.\u00a0 I bet a fiddle of gold against your soul, because we know IT&#8217;S YOU vs. YOU!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Epic records made him modify the lyrics to fit their agenda.<\/p>\n<p>Almost finishing the deck, the pax moseyed to pick up a heavy rock and made a line in the parking lot.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">The Chorus<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Since there is a fire on the mountain, CDB says &#8220;Run, boys, run!&#8221;\u00a0 Which clearly means &#8211; LUNG BUSTERS<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pax had 30 seconds to go down and back &#8211; faster you go, more recovery you get<\/li>\n<li>repeato 2 more times<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For the &#8220;chickens in the bread pan, picking out dough&#8221; pax picked up their rock for some festive IC exercises:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Skull Crushers<\/li>\n<li>Bent over row<\/li>\n<li>Curls<\/li>\n<li>Overhead press<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Since the running and the picking lines are repeated, pax repeated the above 2 more times! #crowdpleaser<\/p>\n<p>The devil bowed his head because he knew that he&#8217;d been beat, so pax headed for Mary<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Mary<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the usual fun, LBC, Freddie Mercs, Parker Peter, Mutton Crunch, Planking<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As our theme song ended, so did time &#8211; 45 minutes passes quickly when you&#8217;re having fun!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Playlist:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Every time I see him &#8211; CDB<\/li>\n<li>Shelter from the Storm &#8211; Dylan<\/li>\n<li>Fire on the Mountain &#8211; Marshall Tucker<\/li>\n<li>Can&#8217;t you see &#8211; Marshall Tucker<\/li>\n<li>The Legend of Wooley Swamp &#8211; CDB<\/li>\n<li>Long Haired Country Boy &#8211; CDB<\/li>\n<li>In America &#8211; CBD<\/li>\n<li>Tangled up in blue &#8211; Dylan<\/li>\n<li>Uneasy Rider &#8211; CDB<\/li>\n<li>Stroker&#8217;s Theme &#8211; CDB<\/li>\n<li>Drinking my baby goodbye &#8211; CDB<\/li>\n<li>Devil Went Down to Georgia<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>NMM<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pony knew the middle name of Mr. Daniel&#8217;s wife, it was not Zog<\/li>\n<li>Zima noted the Q had the Q-drenaline flowing on the downhill sprints<\/li>\n<li>Pony, and potentially other&#8217;s, knew the lead actor in the movie Stroker Ace, a true cinematic masterpiece<\/li>\n<li>Pax loved the jump squats<\/li>\n<li>Turnover was singing along most of the morning<\/li>\n<li>Spam was worried that Lucius Clay was killed in the Legend of Wooley Swamp, but comforted he got his revenge against the brothers who were belligerent when they speak<\/li>\n<li>Pax were hoping for more factoids to break up the card-dealing fun<\/li>\n<li>There was no sliding of the rocks, only some kind of sick Q would ask pax to slide rocks on the pavement #traumatizedfromFenderQ<\/li>\n<li>Flyby accused the Q of going over by 1 minute.\u00a0 Clearly his watch is not synchronized to the International Space Station every 1\/8 of a second.\u00a0 (The Q&#8217;s isn&#8217;t either, but that&#8217;s besides the point)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Announcements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Some stellar Q&#8217;s by stellar pax are approaching this week<\/li>\n<li>Shovel making party is getting planned, see Pony if interested<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Prayer request:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The MIL of Splash&#8217;s sister passed away recently<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Thanks Turnover!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With the passing of Charlie Daniels this past week, a prominent musical influence of my youth, YHC knew that a CDB themed beatdown was appropriate.
