BRR, The Bourbon Chase, The Palmetto, Smoky Mountain Relay.\u00a0 You know…events that are CSAUP (Completely Stupid and Utterly Pointless).<\/p>\n

This past weekend, 12 brave (and slightly stupid) Pax embarked on the Tuna 200.\u00a0 Starting in Garner, NC (just outside of Raleigh) and finishing in Atlantic Beach, NC, this event provided everything we could hope for in an event.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
It would be impossible to capture all the moments that happened in a backblast, so YHC will not even attempt to do so.\u00a0 Suffice to say, if you have never competed in an overnight relay, it is something that you really need to do.\u00a0 All 3 Fs are present.\u00a0 1st F – you are going to run 3 times in a span of 33 hours or so.\u00a0 But the real reason you do these events is for the 2nd and 3rd F.\u00a0 Team members are forever linked by the shared experiences.<\/p>\n

NMM<\/strong><\/p>\n As YHC was in Van 1, YHC can only comment on what happened in our van.<\/p>\n That being said, Van 2 liked to drink.\u00a0 And drink they did.\u00a0 Before, during and after the race.\u00a0 And they still killed it!!<\/p>\n Hoptoberfest is INSANELY fast.\u00a0 Do not think otherwise.<\/p>\n YHC will give you one guess as to which Pax did Burpees at the end of his legs before handing off the baton.\u00a0 Does that make Zima crazy?\u00a0 Or does it make Splash, Huckleberry, and Wobegon more crazy for doing them after seeing him do them?\u00a0 Hoptoberfest and YHC took the smarter route and passed on them.<\/p>\n Splash has a week of poo.\u00a0 \u00a0Ask him.<\/p>\n There are a LOT of school buses in the Garner, NC area.\u00a0 Not sure there are that many kids in the area.<\/p>\n There are significant parts of our state that smell like animal manure.<\/p>\n The brotherhood of F3 is real.\u00a0 On YHCs second leg (7.44 miles), van 1 from F3 Hickory provided much needed encouragement and water.\u00a0 And their van 2 had a candy bar at the end of the leg.\u00a0 That symbol on the front of our shirts means a lot.\u00a0 #F3Counts<\/p>\n Zima really wants to wear Splash’s hat.<\/p>\n The Singing Cowboy was in rare form after the race.\u00a0 Give him a few (a case) of beer, and you will some interesting things.\u00a0 Freddy Mercury indeed!\u00a0 #baritone<\/p>\n Splash is the kind of guy who will take the last 2 sausage links, and only eat one.<\/p>\n There is nothing like running at 3am under a clear sky.\u00a0 Absolutely beautiful.<\/p>\n Hats off to the Baptist Church that opened its doors, literally to the race.\u00a0 Huge fire in front, plus more food that you can imagine.\u00a0 Good people.<\/p>\n Greenspan ran the last 5 miles in about 5 minutes.<\/p>\n Wobegon can do burpees while wearing aviator sunglasses.\u00a0 #talent<\/p>\n The race app was completely unreliable.\u00a0 EXCEPT for when van 1 was done and eating breakfast.\u00a0 We pull it up and see that SourMash should be very near the restaurant we were in.\u00a0 YHC runs out the front door, and there he was!\u00a0 Everyone came out and cheered him on!<\/p>\n Whaler is now on Twitter!!<\/p>\n YHC learned that “the bass is in the juice” is not, in fact, a medical term.<\/p>\n However, van 1 learned all about the “trout is in the milk.”\u00a0 Res Ipsa Loquitur.\u00a0 Law wins.<\/p>\n Speaking of the app, Hoptoberfest is STILL running leg 1.<\/p>\n Only casualty was a growler of beer.\u00a0 #mandown #watchoutforthecurb<\/p>\n Huckleberry ran 9 miles at a 9 min pace.\u00a0 For his 3rd leg.\u00a0 Who does that??!!<\/p>\n Zima took a trip down memory lane.\u00a0 Glad we were with him.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Feel free to comment with anything that YHC missed (which is a LOT).<\/p>\n Thanks to the whole Spam of the Sea team.\u00a0 What a great experience.<\/p>\n Who is up for next year??<\/p>\n <\/p>\n -Spamalot<\/p>\n #spamtan<\/p>\n #spamofthesea<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" BRR, The Bourbon Chase, The Palmetto, Smoky Mountain Relay.\u00a0 You know…events that are CSAUP (Completely Stupid and Utterly Pointless).
